Testing our new chat feature

February 9, 2011 in Help by drron

UPDATE – we’ve just ungraded to the latest versions of WordPress 3.1 and BuddyPress 1.2.8. So, we’re trying chat again.

You can chat with someone else who is logged into the New Work City Social Network using different channels for public vs. private or one of the groups we’ve created for Help, Event Planners, Feedback, or Trainers. Try using the topmost menu to get to chat or try navigating to a Group (e.g. Community > Groups > Trainers).

The screen shot below is from an older release of this site. Members, Groups and Forums are now part of the main navigation.

1. Change your avatar within this site

Select “My Account > Profile > Change Avatar” from the menu at the top of the page, as illustrated in the screen shot below.

2. Upload photo to your gmail account

When you’re in your gmail account, just click “settings” at the top, right of the page to see the screen below. Once, your gmail account has a photo, then WordPress will use the photo now associated with the email address you used when you registered with this WordPress site.

3. Gravatar puts your face everywhere

The folks at Automattic, who created WordPress, have also created Gravatar, which helps you to create or change your avatar that will be picked up by other services.
